By registering for and participating in the Charotar Crocodile Count, you agree to comply with these Terms of Participation and Event Rules. Please read them thoroughly.
1. Registration & Participation
- Registration is personal and non-transferable unless authorized in writing by the Voluntary Nature Conservancy (VNC).
- A registration is considered confirmed only upon receipt of the full registration fee and issuance of an official Entry Pass.
- Participants must carry a valid government-issued photo ID to the registration desk.
2. Field Safety & Event Rules
The Charotar Crocodile Count takes place in real, non-enclosed wetland ecosystems where apex predators live alongside human communities. For the safety of participants and the protection of wildlife, the following rules are mandatory:
- Follow Team Leads: You must strictly follow all safety instructions, routes, and timings designated by your assigned team leader.
- Maintain Safe Distance: Approaching, provoking, feeding, or attempting to handle wild crocodiles or any other wildlife is strictly prohibited.
- Stay with Your Team: Wandering off designated survey paths or entering water bodies is strictly forbidden.
- Dress Code & Gear: Participants must wear appropriate sturdy field shoes (no open sandals) and practical clothing as outlined in the pre-event briefing.
- Substance Policy: The possession or consumption of alcohol, narcotics, or illegal substances is strictly banned.
3. Code of Conduct & Removal
Participants are expected to treat local communities, fellow volunteers, and organizers with dignity and respect. VNC reserves the right to immediately terminate the participation of any individual who violates safety rules, displays disruptive behavior, or endangers themselves, others, or wildlife, without entitlement to a refund.
4. Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver
Field biology involves inherent natural risks, including uneven terrain, water bodies, weather conditions, and proximity to wildlife.
- By participating, you voluntarily assume all associated risks.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, Voluntary Nature Conservancy, its trustees, staff, and partners shall not be held liable for any personal injury, illness, loss, or property damage sustained during or in connection with the event.
5. Media & Intellectual Property
- Event Media: VNC reserves the right to capture photos and video recordings during the event for archival, scientific, educational, and promotional purposes.
- Scientific Data: All aggregate population counts, field data, and research publications remain the intellectual property of the Voluntary Nature Conservancy.
6. Event Modifications & Cancellations
VNC reserves the right to adjust schedules, survey locations, or itineraries due to adverse weather, safety evaluations, or regulatory requirements. In the event of full cancellation, our Refund Policy applies.
