Dr. Kartik Shanker

Dr. Kartik Shanker, an evolutionary ecologist with a passion for marine turtles, mountains, and marine life. When he's not researching the ecology and evolutionary biology of marine turtles, he loves to write children's fiction and go diving to look for turtles and explore reefs. As a faculty member at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, he works on diversity at different levels and scales, from genes to ecosystems and local communities to macro-ecological scales. He also enjoys playing guitar, drums, and basketball. Kartik is also the founding trustee of the Dakshin Foundation, which focuses on community-based resource monitoring programs. He has also established a magazine called 'Current Conservation' that covers a wide range of topics related to the environment and conservation.
